The Gas Station Arts Centre is proud to present the 2014 Winnipeg if... Improv Festival. The very first Winnipeg if... Improv Festival happened all the way back in the year 2000. It’s hard to believe that the futuristic sounding year 2000 is now so far in the past. But here we are in 2014 and we all have computers in our pockets. For this year’s futuristic Winnipeg if… Improv Festival we will be teleporting in performers from Germany, Vancouver, Edmonton and from the other end of the our Galaxy (because we have the technology). Tickets for the Winnipeg if… Improv Festival are available through the Gas Station Arts Centre by calling (204) 284-9477 or using that fancy internet and purchasing them online. It is the year 2014 — we should all be buying everything online, shouldn’t we?

The 11th Winnipeg IF… Improv Festival kicks off tonight and runs until November 14. Get ready for a hilarious night this evening, Winnipeg! You can catch the free "Festival Sampler" at the King's Head Pub, 120 King St., beginning at 9 pm. Did we mention it's free? Hosts Stephen and Lee of Crumbs will do scenes with out-of-town guests and local players in this Improv Festival tradition. The Festival Sampler show is a part of the ongoing Free Laughs Comedy Series that puts on free live comedy shows at the King's Head every Tuesday night. Make sure you check out the rest of the stunning lineup for this week of amazing improv, featuring perfomers from New York City, Los Angeles, Edmonton, Toronto, Regina, and of course, Winnipeg. Winnipeg, meet Joe Bill!

 Joe Bill will soon be in Winnipeg. This should make everyone very excited because... Joe Bill is widely regarded as one of the best teachers of Scenic and Comedic Improvisation in the world today. He currently teaches, performs and does corporate training at iO Chicago, is an Artistic Associate for The Chicago Improv Festival, and acts as an Artistic Adviser for a number of Improvisation and Comedy Theaters all over the world. Joe and a number of very talented friends, under the Artistic Direction of Mick Napier, co-founded The Annoyance Theater in Chicago in 1990. His passion for teaching Improvisation soon kicked into high gear as a unique approach to Improvised Scene and Character began to be articulated by a number of teachers at Annoyance, including Mick Napier, Mark Sutton, Joe, David Razowsky, Bob Fisher and Susan Messing that focused on Improvisers "Taking care of themselves, in order to take care of others in a scene". The 11th Winnipeg If… Improv Festival hits the city November 9-14. Presented by the Gas Station Arts Centre, the festival brings to Winnipeg special guests from New York City, Los Angeles, Edmonton, and Toronto for five nights of sensational and improvisational theatre. Tickets for the Winnipeg If… Improv Festival are available through the Gas Station Arts Centre website at www.gasstationtheatre.com or by calling (204) 284-9477. This year, the festival features five nights of theatre shows and two days of workshops. The festival kicks off on Tuesday, November 9th with a free "Festival Sampler" show at The King's Head Pub.
